Another one of my characters! This one if you couldn't tell is inspired by Cassandra Rhodin my favourite fashion illustrator. She is really amazing (in my opinion anyway) so if you don't know her I'd definitely recommend checking her work out. Think I might have taken 'in the style of' a bit too literally on this one but I couldn't help it, I love the way she draws. So there we go. My last character. I have another two but not sure if I want to upload them yet. I think they need a bit more work really.
A Joan Miro inspired character. Its an alien called Tip who likes trying on women's clothes and make up. I actually really like this one, I'm just a bit concerned it's too simple? My original design was a lot more detailed but after looking back at some more of Joan Miro's work I thought it needed simplifying...and it looked a lot like ET before I changed it too...I like it anyway! Done with acrylic paints.
Another character! This one is inspired by Edward Gorey! Done with pen and ink! Pretty pleased with this one!....Still no good at cross hatching though. And also I decided to change my Dr Seuss character slightly. His legs just didn't look right so I coloured them competely in black and I think it looks much better now.
Another one of my characters for the summer project! This one is in the style of Oliver Jeffers. I'm not much of a pro with paint but our tutors want us to try different things and I'm trying my best. I'll be glad when I can get back to my trusty paper and photoshop. I am however pretty pleased with this character. He's called Kek and he's a 10 year old Pharaoh of Ancient Egypt....he's a massive brat.
Done with watercolour paints and pencils.
*Sorry for the bad quality picture I had to take it on the ipad*
One of my characters for my summer project! This one is based on Dr Seuss...if you couldn't guess. Not sure if I'm taking the brief too literally or not but we have to create characters based on other artists. Hopefully I'm doing it right! Might make his trousers more black later but I'm a little bit terrified of cross-hatching so I haven't dared to do it yet! More is on the way!
So, I didn't manage to make the top 3 of the Illustrate It competition but I'm still really proud of the cover I did for it! And I just want to say a massive massive thank you to everyone that did vote for me! I'm so grateful and I've been overwhelmed by the support I got off friends, family and even strangers. It was a good experience to do something in about 3 days that had nothing to do with uni and I'm glad I did it! Anyway here is my cover, I didn't post it originally because I wasn't sure if I was allowed to publish it anywhere other than the competition website. Thanks again everyone. And hopefully better luck next time! :)
